Back in the Saddle

The guy at the gym counter was surprised today; I’m sure he’d thought I was a New Year’s Resolution burnout. And for a couple of weeks, I was — I had made great headway into going to the gym frequently until one morning I woke up and thought, “Eh, tomorrow.” And then, “the next time around,” and then, well, it came down to a few folks asking me if I was still going (THANKS, BY THE WAY!) and I went back. And tomorrow, I’ll go back again. I am back on that specific horse.

When it comes to gathering as a community, I hope no one double-takes if you show up after a bit of an absence. Our outstanding elders ministers are looking out to see if you’re around and will contact you if you’re not; I look at attendance and match up who I’ve seen and haven’t seen and would like to see and ought to call every week. But I get it, too — sometimes, the alarm goes off on Sunday morning, and the response may be, “Eh, next week.” So, I hope this will help.

On Wednesdays in Lent beginning March 12, please consider coming to Midway Hills. We will be having a soup supper at 6:30, a short but pretty awesome prayer service at 7, and at 7:30, the choir will rehearse AND a study will be offered, Living Waters by the Rev. Dr. Ken Lowery, led by our very own Rev. Dr. Roger Wedell. I hope that we’ll see you frequently on Sundays, and I hope, too, that you’ll come and do Wednesday nights with us as well.

I know there’s a lot in this week’s Echo, so I will sadly keep this postcard short, but I look very forward to seeing you on Sunday, every Sunday. Until then!

Shalom y’all,

Arthur
